Movimento Project: A Decade in Motion

Contemporary dance—lyric, ludic, and expansive—awakens parts of ourselves often hushed by the cadence of daily life. It invites us to feel, to reflect, and to move toward a deeper understanding of life, of ourselves and our surroundings.

This year, Movimento Project marks a milestone—ten years of movement, emotion, and exploration. Born from a vision to unite local dance voices with global artistry, the Movimento Project has grown into a living archive of human resilience, transformation, and connection.

Over the past decade, dancers and dreamers from every walk of life have stepped into the circle—through residencies, public workshops, and performances that come to life through the heartbeat of shared stories. This year’s celebration honors their journey in a vibrant photo and video exhibition, and brings the past to the present with live performances of pieces from our 10-year repertory—moments that shaped us, and now, may move you. The event begins at the venue’s entrance and brings the audience through the spaces with a variety of dance moments.

Join us for an all-ages hour of contemporary dance that blurs the boundaries between audience and artist, past and present, movement and poetry, stage and life. Expect moments of self-recognition, elegance and humor, unexpected choreographic delights, and a powerful invitation to witness the beauty of becoming what we are when we move – Movimento.

Accessibility Note - PLEASE BE ADVISED: Thacher Hall is a historic building and does not have a lift/elevator. This program is set to take place in multiple locations on the property including outdoors, upstairs, and in the lower level. The audience will be asked to follow the dancers to various locations throughout the performance and will need to stand for certain portions of the program.

Parking Note: There is no parking at Thacher Hall. Parking is available just across Route 6A from Thacher Hall around the Common, as well as at the Post Office and Chapter House Inn. Crossing attendants will be available to assist with crossing Route 6A at the designated crosswalk in front of Thacher Hall. If you need accessible parking information, please email events@thacherhall.org.

Ticket revenue pays artist fees and enables Thacher Hall to share the arts with the Yarmouth Port community.
